Too early for my memoirs (7)

The current elections have been quite intense already, and they will continue to be for about two more weeks. This could be, or not, the first election of a Prime Minister who's first name is not Frances, Jude or Yuri. So, to give you all something to think about at night when you're checking the polls, I'd like to describe what will happen between January 26th and February 1st. I will not be the key figure in the process, but having written the law (ahem) and having participated in both 2008 and 2010, I am the right person to introduce you all to this interesting topic.

So, what does the Constitution say about this?

The candidate who received votes worth the most points, will become Member of the Congress and Prime Minister. In the case of a…

Too early for my memoirs (6)

User:DimiTalen goes a long way. I started as a Wikipedia contributor and ended up creating portals on the Dutch-language Wikipedia. Then, my geofiction career began. I think, my career has been leading many of us through the wiki experience. This is why.

A short overview of what happened:

  • On Wikipedia, User:SPQRobin started the "Wikistad" proposal. The idea was to create a small town using a wikitable with different colors. In it, TIME puts ten news stories on the world map. It's often news about a decision made in Washington or Brussels, about progress in one of the wars in the Middle East, newly released statistics, etc. The ten news flashes are not representative for what happens in the world. They might, however, be interesting to get to know which regions TIME really focuses on.

After almost one year (49 issues, that…

Too early for my memoirs (3)

I am quite interested in collecting quotations. Over the years, I have collected a small number of relevant quotes on my Facebook profile page. In a way, they represent my perception of life, reality, literature... There is some Jefferson, Hemingway, lots of Camus and Sartre, some Thoreau and Emerson (I think Andy and Martha will enjoy)... Like I said, it's not much. Read them, skim through them and I'm sure you'll recognize a good deal of them.

"If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a m…
