The Books of Flayme is a Lovian science fiction-fantasy novel series, written by children's literature writer John Graham. The series started with The City of Flayme, published in 2003. The novel was highly successful, both with adults and young adolescents. The series was continued with the publication of The People of Ember, in 2004, which continued the story of The City of Flayme and was also critically applauded. The third novel to be published in the series, in 2006, was The Madison Prophet, which forms a prequel to the other novels in the series. The Diamond of Triffid is the fourth novel in the series, and was published in 2008. It continues the story of The City of Flayme and The People of Ember. The Diamond of Triffid is, according to John Graham, the last novel in the series.
The novels take place in a post-apocalyptic world. They revolve around the people who live in the city of Flayme, the last known human settlement in a pitch black world.
