Blanch was born into a wealthy family from Noble City. He was educated in Lovia and the United States. In 1977 Blanch married Eve Burns, a fellow student. They lived for many years in Miami, as he worked at Florida International University.
Blanch and his family returned to Lovia in 1999 and settled in Noble City. Initially he worked as a researcher at Nobel University but soon withdrew and moved to Charleston. There he got involved with the establishment of the Charleston Academy. He currently teaches Plant Sciences.
Blanch was one of the first members to join the Sovereign Democratic Union. Never involved in politics before, he stated 'their evidence-based, pragmatic approach gives me hope for politics.' As one of the most moderate and respected members of the party, with a considerable background outside politics, Blanch became a key spokesman. He was elected as their only MOTC in the 2015 elections.
His daughter, Gwenda, is married to the well-known architect Floyd Rahmsbottom. Blanch identifies himself as an agnostic but he respects other people's beliefs.
