The Old Royal Palace (nicknamed "White Palace") was the former official residence of the Lovian monarchs. It is located in King's Gardens, Noble City, on the same terrain as the new palace: Palati Daidalo. However there is a new location now, the Old Royal Palace is still used for federal and state occasions. The palace was owned by the Spanish Government until 1991 and is now administered as Lovian heritage. The palace is located on State Avenue, in the eastern part of Noble City, west of the Front Gardens. The palace is partially open to the public, except when in official use.
[edit] History
The palace dates from 1874, constructed as the residence for King Arthur I. After the king passed away it officially became the Royal Palace. In 1954 King Lucas I moved the Supreme Court to this palace in Noble City. This decision was reversed the following year.
There was a big fire on December 24, 1964. The day after, on December 25, 1964, King Arthur III ordered the restoration of the palace. Because of many delays caused by unforeseen circumstances, the restoration was finally finished in 1972. In 2007 King Dimitri I left this palace for what it was and moved to the Palati Daidalo.
[edit] The palace today
The vast palace is richly decorated by famous Lovian artists. Several royal collections of great historical importance are kept at the palace, including the Royal Armoury and its weapons dating back to the 17th century, and the world's only complete Stradivarius string quintet, as well as collections of tapestry, porcelain (Bone China), furniture, and other objects of art of great historical importance.
The palace is surrounded by multiple gardens. The east façade of the palace gives onto the Front Gardens. To the south is a vast square, the Plaza of tears, surrounded by narrow wings of the palace. To the north are the Treaty Garden.
