The Oceana Beach is a beach stretching the entire length of the Oceana coast. The Oceana Beach near Hurbanova is one of the most visited beaches of the country. Next to the border of Oceana with Sylvania the coast becomes rocky and the beach ends abruptly.
After stormy weather conditions, wild pineapples from the outback cover the beach. Recent studies proved the Oceana wild pineapple is an excellent source of manganese containing significant amounts of Vitamin C and Vitamin B1[1].
During the night from October 9, 2008 a strange wooden crate had washed ashore. Momentarily it is being watched closely by the coast guard who is waiting for the security services to have the crate opened in witness of an official.
The beach saw a wind gust of 110 km/h on August 27, 2012 as Severe Typhoon Chi Wai made landfall on Peace Island. A subsequent storm surge of 2.1 m height was also recorded, accompanied with 240 mm of rain in one day.
Several sources confirm that the northern part of the Oceana Beach suffers from coastal erosion.
