As Lovia enters 2012, speculation arises.
Which coalitions seem most probably to make the government, and which don't?
NOBLE CITY - DECEMBER 31, 2011 - As the nominations stage of elections draws to a close, coalition talks begin to rev up. One thing to be sure of is the activity of Lovia. Many new politicians have come to the stage, including Christopher Costello, Bill An, and James Torres. All of those men are part of the Positive Lovia, which is now running four candidates in the elections--two higher than any other party. The party seems to be ready to become the leading party of the government coalition. There is also a good chance that they will capture the greatest title of the nation (perhaps besides the King), Prime Minister for their leader, Costello.
From Positive Lovia: I am not Costello, but I think we'll secure the PM's seat. Trust me."
Another, equally plausible possibility is that William Krosby, whose party, the Liberal Democratic Party, is in an alliance with Positive Lovia, could become the Prime Minister, with Positive Lovia filling other important secretarial posts. Compared to the LDP, CNP, and PL coalition, other coalitions are very weak, one composing of the now dysfunctional CPL.nm, still writhing from their loss of Yuri Medvedev, and the Labour Party. If the CNP, the LDP, and PL cannot get enough seats in Congress by the end of the election period, will have to recruit some other parties, most likely the Progressive Conservative Party or Moderate Centrist Party, to their coalition.
I'm excited to see the voting stage of elections, and I think that our coalition will be successful, and we'll be able to create a solid government with support from all Lovians.
Goyou Attempts to Satisfy the Lovian People.
Can Goyou finally make a comeback from being a monopoly?
NOBLE CITY - DECEMBER 23, 2011 - Although Bill An has attempted to strengthen his reputation, the general public of Lovia still wanders into knowing one simple fact: Can Goyou stop being a monopoly? The recent bill attempting to pass Congress is still very vague, and therefore has been looked down at by some. Bill An gives us some interesting words:
I am not going to let Lovians down. I want to help Goyou become reputable again. We didn't want a monopoly, we wanted to experiment, that's all.
Bill An has decided to join Federal Elections, but he does not know about getting a good vote quota in Congress. Goyou has already eliminated many of its less successful companies, which in fact are losing profits faster than ever. Bill An now expects 5 seats in Congress, however he would appreciate any people voting for him. Goyou has yet to make every single person happy.

The LDP, Positive Lovia, and CNP began coalition talks yesterday. MOTCWilliam Krosby stated that the three parties have similar goals and working together could achieve even more of their agenda. Other centrist parties like the PCP may or may not join talks in the future, but for now no sign of doing so has surfaced among any other parties. This political race will certainly turn out to be a turnover of power from left to centre. The voting stage will begin on January 1, 2012, but there are still two more weeks of candidacies that can be posted. Who knows what will happen next? Could the left recover? Could it not? Time will tell.
The Civil War is Over.
The Oceanan Rebels have finally surrendered: the War is over.
OSLOBODENIA 'OSHENNA - NOVEMBER 6, 2011 - UNLOR has just announced that the Lovian Civil War, which lasted from October 3, 2011, to today, has finally come to an end. After a high-action battle in Oslobodenia 'Oshenna, Oceanan rebels surrendered. Their leader Il Duce Octavian, was never found, leading to rumors that he is still out and about, planning another rebellion against the government. Others believe the former general killed himself before he could be captured. However, no remains even vaguely similar to him were found by UNLOR, which may help the theory that he escaped.
We're not sure at all where Il Duce Octavian is, but we will keep searching until he is found.
No one knows which, if either, theory is true, and UNLOR has not released an official statement about Octavian yet, despite the answer given by commander Levi McArthur. But what is true, is that peace will return to Lovia soon enough. In the beginning of the invasion of the stronghold town of the rebels, on November 5, UNLOR forces began to lead their soldiers to the outside Oslobodenia 'Oshenna. The rebels quickly began to go into hiding in the Giardino Del Duce, after which power and supplies going into the town were cut off. According to one UNLOR soldier, the town had an eerie silence to it, like the silence before the storm. Later in the day, at about 16:00, UNLOR began to storm the building. Most of the rebels were found in the basements the complex. Though nearly all 300 of the rebels were fighting, much of the building was captured by the end of the day. Many of the Oslobodenian forces had been trapped at that point. The next day, at 8:00, after a futile resistance, the rebels surrendered, but Octavian was nowhere to be found, despite the great victory.
This is a success for justice and order, even though we didn't find the rebel leader.
AN UNLOR SOLDIER, BEING INTERVIEWED A FEW HOURS AFTER THE BATTLE.
In the next few days, Lovia will probably see increased activity in Congress, who are trying to fix the problems that the rebels fought against. Oceana could become an autonomous state, or states in general could receive more rights. Independent MOTCChristopher Costello is vouching for the creation of a national military to help better protect the nation from armed uprisings like the recent Civil War. He is currently drafting a proposal that will be discussed in Congress. It's unknown what other proposals will come into light in the remaining three months of where the 2011 Second Congress will rule Lovia, but with any hope they will be for the better.
An End to the War in Sight?
With La Blaca dead, the Northern rebels surrendered, and a weakening Oceana, is an end in sight?
EMERALD HIGHLANDS - OCTOBER 30, 2011 - Irving Gerald La Blaca has been killed in action in the Emerald Highlands. After a highly publicized goose chase, with several decoys and false hiding places, the rebel leader's son-in-law, Alfonso LaGuerta, betrayed the location of La Blaca, after he was promised legal immunity if his father-in-law was discovered using his help. Once UNLOR units arrived on the scene at the residence of La Blaca's daughter, innocent people were guided out of the building on order of La Blaca himself, after which soldiers stormed the house and tried to find La Blaca, who was found being guarded by members of The Brigade.
Freedom, Justice, and Honor!
THE WORDS OF I. G. LA BLACA AS HE DIED.
As La Blaca died via machine gun fire at 11:31 AM, the village of Kinley was also taken with "eerily little resistance", according to UNLOR commander Levi McArthur. The next goal of UNLOR will be to get the Oceanan rebels back under control. Oslobodenia has already retreated completely from Sylvania and Noble City, which they formerly had control over, and Il Duce Octavian, the Oceanan commander, has proposed another peace compromise, known as the General's Compromise, which was not agreed to by UNLOR, who seem to be intent on keeping Lovia in one piece.
We have made several successes in the last few days and have nearly reversed our losses since Oceana joined the rebels. With the Northern rebels and Southern Kings movement under control, we need to take out the Oceanan rebels and Octavian as soon as we can before we can start the rebuilding.
MCARTHUR, QUOTED FROM A STATEMENT GIVEN TO LQ.
With an end to the Civil War in site and Oceana fighting the war by itself, we should see peace coming to the Lovian archipelago very soon. Following that, we'll see a rejuvenation and rebuilding of Lovia to the best it has been in a long time.
The Tide Turns Once More.
Oceana joins the rebellion and Noble City is occupied.
NOBLE CITY - OCTOBER 26, 2011 - Il Duce Octavian is leading a rebellion in the state of Oceana, and has even taken land in Sylvania. Meanwhile, the Northern rebels are losing ground, with an UNLOR invasion of Novosevensk, which is one of their movement's stronghold town, second only to Kinley. Nikolai Koshkov and I. G. La Blaca, the leaders of that revolution, have not shown any sign of surrender, although it seems that Koshkov may have revoked his vow to fight to the end, as he has not been stating that since this Tuesday, while La Blaca, famous for being a leading figure of the UNS, has continued. Meanwhile, in Oceana, Octavian has made huge gains and has marched on Noble City. The predicted win for UNLOR clearly has been nullified, and now the outcome truly seems to be a variable, which the war going in the rebels favor one day, and UNLOR the next. Octavian also seems to have a far-right position in politics, and has been called by some the next Mussolini, which probably is referring to his resemblance of that Italian dictator.
I am willing to destroy everything that reminds me of Lovia.
OCTAVIAN, QUOTED FROM A SPEECH GIVEN IN HURBANOVA.
However, a group of counter-rebels from the hamlet of Charleston, known as the Southern Cross Alliance, has taken control of the Stephen Headland, and is pushing into Train Village. Oslobodenia, the self-proclaimed name of the Oceanan rebels, are preparing to retake the town, and word has gotten out that they will march tomorrow, on the 27th. With an increasingly powerful rebel movement, can UNLOR still find a victory in this bloody conflict? A few more days of the conflict should provide the answer.
Have the Rebels Lost their Chance to Win?
UNLOR makes large gains in the Civil War and marches on Novosevensk.
NOVOSEVENSK - OCTOBER 23, 2011 - With large gains made today in Noble City, a defeat of the HAMR Militia, and a march on Novosevensk, is there still hope for the rebels? Today, this question seems to have been answered: No. It must still be admitted there is a chance that the rebels triumph, although it is now very slim. The new question is: When will the rebellion end? To us, it seems that by the end of October, the rebellion will be over, as the last rebels are rounded up and put to justice. As UNLOR wraps up the southern segments of the rebellion, it is now marching on the village of Novosevensk, where major rebel commanders, including Nikolai Koshkov, have gone to so they can defend their "stronghold" town from the never-ending march of UNLOR. In addition, UNLOR general Levi McArthur has publicly responded to an interview request by The National Post, answering five questions. We'll cover the most notable parts of McArthur's interview here.
A surrendering rebel is a wise rebel; in a democratic country like Lovia, violence is no way to progress. I do however wish to remark that the rebels don't form a single group. We are fighting a composite of extremists, anarchists, various nationalists and plain troublemakers.
What this more or less means is that Levi McArthur is certainly willing to negotiate, and he wants the rebels to surrender, as it is clearly a better choice than fighting to the end, which only results in a worse sentence, or death, although the latter may be more favorable to some rebels, like I. G. La Blaca, who has vowed to fight until his death. McArthur also believes that the rebels should, instead of using violence to achieve their goals, should build support among all Lovians and attempt to win an election, the closest being the 2012 Federal Elections, which begin this December.
Everyone is up for investigation, including UNLOR troops and Lovian politicians; no immunities from justice are granted to any side. But of course sentences are only given to those who are found to be guilty.
MCARTHUR, QUOTED FROM THE SAME INTERVIEW.
McArthur clearly is intent on being the fairest he can be in this war and deliver justice as much as he can. No one will be excused, not even his own troops and government officials, if they commit war crimes, atrocities, or anything else that violate the laws of our nation. UNLOR will only do what is right, not what they want. That is the goal of the UNLOR force and is contrary to what some rebel organizations, like the Lovian Land Army, which was recently driven out of Noble City, claim against the task force.
Being part of a peacekeeping mission always evokes ambiguous feelings. On the one hand you feel proud you can serve and protect, but on the other hand you know the situation is really nasty when UN troops need to be deployed. . . Proud to be here, but I'd rather wouldn't have been needed altogether. So far the mission hasn't worked out to well: progress has been slow and there are too many casualties.
MCARTHUR, QUOTED FROM THE SAME INTERVIEW.
One can see what McArthur means in this quote. The general is clearly annoyed with the current situation, with resilient rebels and problematic negotiations. He feels the costs of the UNLOR offensives are bad, with plenty of casualties, which limit the already low population of Lovia. Obviously, there has got to be an end to this conflict in the near future, or morale is going to get lower and lower. Will it end soon? Can't say yet, but probably yes.
Now that I am out of prison, that I was unconstitutionally put in, I shall join the forces of the Northern Lovian rebels, for they are the only ones who give promise in this land filled with idiotic socialists.
HONECKER, QUOTED FROM A SPEECH GIVEN IN NOVOSEVENSK.
Now with these two controversial people out of jail, a pledge to support the rebels, and a most certain ability to rally support from the far right, there are a huge amount of possibilities from this, however, one unmistakable fact is that the morale of the rebels in Seven has increased threefold. The rebel soldiers are getting more optimistic that they can turn back the forces of UNLOR (under Levi McArthur) and even become fully independent, despite the fall of the HAMR Militia earlier today in Southern Kings. UNLOR has posted a response to the break out on their Twitter page, saying that they are optimistic that they can win the war.
We will remain confident that we can keep this rebellion under control without heavy casualties.
AN UNLOR STATEMENT POSTED ON TWITTER.
Things only got worse at 1300. At that time, an invasion of Noble City was launched by the Lovian Land Army, an organization of hunters dedicated to "liberating" the Lovian people. They quickly entered Noble City and are laying siege to the UNLOR headquarters. Currently, UNLOR is sending reinforcements to their command building, and the force they have sent outnumbers the LLA's force, which has 100 men.
We will bring the war to them. The Lovian people will be liberated of their tyrant-like government and UNLOR will be gone.
AN UNIDENTIFIED LLA OFFICER.
As the next events in the Lovian Civil War unravel, one thing that is assured is that the rebels will be to put up more of a fight with the help of former IGP members and increased morale. In the future, we could be seeing something more than failing resistance in Seven. We could be seeing the establishment of a confederacy in Lovia, which is being discussed in Congress by several MOTCs, or even the establishment of an independent state in Seven, although is high unlikely, as UNLOR retains the upper hand in their advance across Clymene, which has just been ridded of rebels. Despite their leads in that front, can UNLOR retain their lead in the second front of the war: Noble City?
Are they Losing the War?
The Rebels are weakening--significantly.
PORTLAND AND KINLEY - OCTOBER 22, 2011 - The rebellions in Clymene, Seven, and Southern Kings are getting weaker. With the formation of the HAMR Militia in Kings (led by Kim Dae-su), and the formation of the Lovian Land Army (by Conservative Nationalist Party members) have clearly increased the strength of the rebel movement. But despite all these efforts from rebels, it seems that UNLOR has gotten stronger too. Over the past day, heavy artillery has been brought to the UNLOR army near Portland and has shelled any HAMR encampments that they knew of. Kim Dae-su, the leader of HAMR, was wounded in the shellings. Kim stated he wanted to surrender, but only if he and his militia receive judicial immunity. Levi McArthur, UNLOR commander, responded negatively.
Judicial immunity is not an option, unfortunately. All of the damage the rebels have done should be punished, not excused.
MCARTHUR, QUOTED FROM UNLOR WEBSITE.
At 7:12, however, Kim announced the surrender of HAMR after discussing it with other senior officials of the militia. He allowed himself to be brought from justice by honorably submitting himself to the UNLOR forces. After his surrender, Kim also stated that he wanted all of Kings to be handed over to governmental authorities.
I can tell the rebellion is futile. Therefore, I want all of Kings to be handed over to the government.
KIM DAE-SU, QUOTED FROM CUSTODY.
The state of Oceana, famous for independence movements, has not joined the rebellion, which is mildly problematic for the rebels in Clymene and Seven, who seem to be losing ground, especially in Clymene. UNLOR made advances in that state today, with the fighting be pushed out of Sofasi and to the coast, close to Seven. Although rebel figures, including Nikolai Koshkov and I. G. La Blaca, have vowed to fight to the end, it is likely that they will not succeed at this point.
We're pleased to announce that the rebels are not going to win the war, due to the virulence and honor of the UNLOR forces.
AN UNLOR STATEMENT POSTED ON TWITTER.
The government and UNLOR seem to be heading for a victory with today's recent developments. The activity of the Lovian people has increased lately, with many citizens of our country volunteering for the rebels or UNLOR. After the capture or death of some major rebel leaders, Lovia will hopefully see a return to peace and stability once again, but not without a larger populace of active citizens.
When will they end?
Riots in Northern Lovia resume and intensify, now with the aid of rebels from Southern Kings.
DISCOVERY ISLE - OCTOBER 21, 2011 - The peace negotiations between rebel leaders and the UNLOR force have collapsed.I. G. La Blaca and Nikolai Koshkov, the leaders of the revolution in Northern Lovia, have stated that at the current state of negotiations, they will never be able to get what they want: Independence of Clymene and Seven, and at the very least, the formation of a confederacy and weakening of the currently powerful Federal government, which has been in that state since the 2010 State Reform, where State Law was abolished.
Together we will defeat the enemies of our people. They are rats and terrorists!
LA BLACA, QUOTED FROM A SPEECH HE GAVE EARLIER TODAY.
In addition to the collapse of peace negotiations, there has been an assassination attempt on UNLOR leader Levi McArthur's life. Luckily for the United Nations task force, the attempt failed to kill McArthur, who only suffered mild injuries, the worst being a piece of shrapnel that grazed his arm. Despite the survival of the general, two senior UNLOR commanders and five soldiers were killed, and many others injured. McArthur has vowed revenge on the assassins.
"To whoever planned and conducted these attacks: this is an dishonorable way to fight. You will be hunted down and brought to justice in time."
MCARTHUR, QUOTED FROM A STATEMENT RELEASED ON THE UNLOR WEBSITE.
Congressman Kim Dae-su has reportedly joined the rebels in their fight to "liberate" Lovia. The man famous for his hit book Mariko The Killer organized a raid on Portland with the HAMR Militia he had organized during the previous days of the month. The town quickly fell and by 1600 was in the hands of the militia. Koshkov and La Blaca have said they are "pleased" someone else is finally taking up arms and fighting for their rights, and have offered Kim a position as the third consul of the Rebel Government. Later, Kim said he has refused and instead would prefer "to keep Kings a better place," seeing the destruction the Northern Rebels have caused. The Southern Families of Portland have also agreed on a collaboration with the HAMR Militia, and Gep Mecano II has just been declared mayor of Portland.
"We want to free the hard-working people of southern Kings from the yoke of the federal government and the false prophecies of socialism."
KIM, QUOTED FROM A SPEECH GIVEN IN PORTLAND.
As the rebellion churns on, Oceana has been encouraged to join the fight by rebel leaders, especially Kim. Who knows what will become of Lovia is this sticky situation? Kim has already began to make plans for peace in Congress, and he says it is important to get the future of Lovia back on track. He is hoping for the creation of a more state-centered government, with the restoration of several state-related concepts, such as State Law and the Local Police. William Krosby, a front-running liberal politician, opposes the formation of a confederacy, but supports Local Police.
"It's really not useful for a small country like us to become a confederacy. We need to remain together and unitary to be a successful state: there aren't enough people interested in politics for a more independent system within the states."
KROSBY, QUOTED FROM CONGRESS.
These days are important in Lovian history. Conflict will be in Lovia for a long time to come.
