Anti-Cabalism is an unofficial Lovian political movement including anti-establishment and anti-monarchy sentiments. It has had major influence in several political organizations such as the fascist Iron Guard Party and the Lovian Democratic Party, but is also linked to republicanism in Lovia. Anti-Cabalism seeks to remove the elite that alledgedly controls Lovia, and to which they refer as 'the Cabal'. It is believed to comprise former King Dimitri and former Prime Minister Yuri Medvedev, among others. The movement encompasses a wide variety of people, from moderate republicans to right-wing extremists. The main figure of Anti-Cabalism is the political fascist activist Dietrich Honecker. Brenda Young is the movement's main theorist who has defended the movement in her book The Insight into Lovia: The Despotic King.

Cabal Theory

Anti-Cabalists believe that Lovia is ruled by a fixed elite, the so-called Cabal, who is thought to manipulate the main political and jurisdictional structures such as Congress and the Supreme Court. They are also believed to be able to change the Constitution at their will. The members of the Cabal claim, according to the Cabal Theory, to act on behalf of democracy. Anti-Cabalists believe that this is a hoax and that there is no such thing as democracy in Lovia. The platform from which the Cabal is thought to operate are the Progressive Democrats, that was established by alledged Cabal members.

The Cabal is often depicted as an almost mob-like organization that rules over the entire political and economic landscape of Lovia. The Cabal is believed to grant favors to those who support it and to encourage a system of clientelism. It is often thought that to shut the opposition they established the Anti-Fascist League which targeted the Anti-Cabalist Iron Guard Party.

People who are believed to be part of the Cabal are:

Etymology

The word 'cabal' is described as a usually secret exclusive organization of individuals gathered for a nefarious purpose. It is derived from the Hebrew Kabbalah meaning 'something received'.

Supporters

Brenda Young, an American-Lovian businesswoman and fervent IGP supporter coined the term 'Cabal' and can be seen as the main Anti-Cabalist theorist. Dietrich Honecker can seen as another Anti-Cabalist, as well as the IGP members. Drabo Doorian is also generally associated with the movement. Pierlot McCrooke, formerly part of the IGP, used to support Brenda Young's theory, but renounced it later on.

Other people partially agree on some points of Anti-Cabalism, while they renounce other parts.

Lovian Republic

Dietrich Honecker, while in exile in California, proclaimed the Lovian Republic on January 5th 2010. He sees it as the "only rightful government of Lovia" and a much more democratic one than the government in power. (It must be noted Lovia was without government at the moment and elections were ongoing.) The Republic claims authority over all of Lovia and "intends to depose the Lovian Cabal." It is officially supported by the Iron Guard Party. The Lovian Republic has a support base with the more hardline Anti-Cabalists, while others seek to find a more peaceful solution. Honecker made clear he will "overthrow the Lovian monarchy within two days", in which he didn't succeed. Honecker has threatened with violence before, stating that he would use his private security corps to stage a coup. Government officials have already made clear that Dietrich Honecker does not pose any real threat.

Criticism

Anti-Cabalism gets a lot of criticism because of the lack of proof to support the theory. Many Anti-Cabalists call the incumbent government undemocratic, but yet the position of supposed Cabal members in the 2010 elections is unclear. Also, a lot of non-Cabal members will make it to Congress. Besides the lack of evidence the Anti-Cabal movement is also criticized because of its questionable methods; Anti-Cabalist movements such as the Iron Guard Party have trouble leaving the claims of fascist sympathies behind. This extremist image also influence other Anti-Cabalists. A lot of people regard Anti-Cabalism like a regular conspiracy theory but others believe that it is being used by extremists to gain support for a coup. Main skeptics are Yuri Medvedev and Alyssa C. Red, who are both named as possible members of the Cabal.
